What Ethical Travel credentials does the tour company have?

We are currently in the first stage of certification through Travelife.

What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?

We allow one date change, and we require 60 days notice.

Can I join the tour once it has departed?

Unfortunately once the tour has begun you cannot join the tour.

Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?

All the accommodations along the Kokoda Track are in village huts and all trekkers stay together in one hut. There is one night where the accommodation is in a tent, and we do our best to accommodate preferences.

How long has the tour company been trading?

Indigenous Kokoda Adventures has been in business since 2018 however all our guides have been in the guiding business for many years.

Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?

We have people joining our treks from all over the world, so you will have the opportunity to create new friendships with many new people.

What is the maximum weight that my backpack can be?

You should try to travel as lightly as possible as someone will have to carry what you bring. Your backpack size should be 95 litres BUT your total belongings should weigh no more than 12 kilograms (backpack and daypack combined). We use charter flights back to Kokoda and weight is restricted due to the small aircraft that is used.

Am I contributing to any charity by booking the tour?

We offer all trekkers the opportunity to contribute to our foundation - the IKA Foundation. All donations assist with providing scholarships to the children along the Kokoda Track with their post Grade 8 education.

What documents will I receive before I travel?

We have a number of documents we require trekkers to complete. They are: Welcome Letter, Client On-boarding Form, Medical Questionnaire, Medical and Insurance Acknowledgement, Waiver of Liability and Insurance Acknowledgement, Training Guidelines, What to Bring, Our Wish List

Will the accommodation included meet local health and safety regulations?

All accommodation, except for the first and last night which are in a hotel, are in village huts and while the comfort level may not be what you are used to, it is a wonderful opportunity to experience how the local people live in the villages along the Kokoda Track.

  • Free Date Changes

    Indigenous Kokoda Adventures allows you to make 1 free date changes, as long as the change is made at least 60 days before the start of the tour.

  • Transfer as credit to Future Tours

    Indigenous Kokoda Adventures allows you to transfer existing payments to a future tour to avoid cancellation fees if you can't travel and inform Indigenous Kokoda Adventures, 60 days before departure.

  • Low Deposit

    Indigenous Kokoda Adventures requires a minimum deposit of 10% or the full booking value, whichever is less, with the final balance not due until 90 days before departure.

  • Cancellation Policy

    If you need to cancel your tour, tourhub doesn't charge a cancellation fee, here is a summary of Indigenous Kokoda Adventures charges.

    Up to 60 days before tour starts: Forfeit 100% of deposit
    At 30 days before tour starts: Forfeit 75% of tour cost
    At 30 days before tour starts: Forfeit 100% of tour cost
